I’m Daniel Waterhouse, a writer based in the heart of South Yorkshire, where I live with my partner, two energetic boys ,and our loyal German Shepherd. When I’m not immersed in a sea of unread books (yes, my bookcase is bursting at the seams), I’m creating whimsical stories that spark the imagination.
Growing up, I was inspired by the genius of Roald Dahl and Douglas Adams, with The BFG holding a special place as the first book I ever read. My favourite book, however, has to be The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, a masterpiece that has influenced both my love for reading and the way I write.
My journey into storytelling deepened when I became a dad. I started writing tales for my children, and my first story featured a hippo who couldn’t stop hiccupping on her birthday, until a surprise party cured her hiccups! Since then, writing has become a joyous adventure for me. I thrive on coming up with ideas, often surprising even myself with how the stories unfold.
When I’m not reading or writing, I enjoy exploring the countryside, savouring the simple pleasures of nature. A day at the seaside never fails to refresh me.
