SID

SID stands for Story Idea Determinator. It is a fun way to help children come up with story ideas. Feel free to download SID below. A spreadsheet software is required for it to work.

SHOW, DON’T TELL

Below is an exercise to help children understand the ‘Show, Don’t Tell’ rule. It will help bring a new depth to their stories, giving their readers a better experience.

CHARACTER CREATION

Use the following worksheets to help build your story’s characters. Think about their traits and quirks, and what their mantra would be.

WRITING YOUR STORY

Now it’s time to jot down your story idea. Think about your character’s goal. Why is it their goal and how they’re going to get it? Think about their personality and how it controls how they think and feel and make decisions. Readers love a good character development. A great way to do this is think about your character’s mantra and make them break it. Have something happen to them that makes them go against their personality. Use the sheet below to help write down your ideas.
